Grade 2 Art Students are learning about the traditional Japanese artform known as Gyotaku, the Japanese word for fish print. The students will be using printmaking tools to create their own Gyotaku prints.
This will be the students' first experience with printing. They will learn that printing allows us to create multiple images of the same thing. In printing, we use an object (the fish), apply ink, place a paper on top, and rub or press the paper until the image is transferred to the paper.
